Grazing Practices & Drought Mitigation Field Day

August 22, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$20

Holistic Management International along with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Kent County would like to offer ranchers an opportunity to attend the Open Gate: Mesquite Grove Ranch Day to be held Friday, August 22, 2014 in Clairemont, TX.  This event is scheduled to start at 9 AM and conclude at 4 PM.

Our Mesquite Grove Ranch Day is part of HMI’s Open Gate Learning Series.  Open Gates are peer-to-peer action-based learning days with short presentations and small group exercises geared for participants to share discoveries and management techniques with guidance from experienced facilitators and producers.  Whether you are an agricultural producer, wildlife manager, local agency representative, or just interested in ranching, drought mitigation or land management, this is a day for you.

Learn effective ranching techniques to improve rangeland productivity, water holding capacity, soil health and wildlife habitat.  Improve forage inventory estimation skills.  Connect with folks from the local sustainable ag and ranching communities.  Understand key wildlife habitat health indicators and talk to wildlife biologists with local knowledge.  These are a few things that will be covered at the this event.

Registration deadline is set for Friday, August 15th and you must go online to http://holisticmanagement.org/mesquite/  to register.  There is a $20 registration fee which will include a rib eye steak meal.  For more information you can contact the Extension office at 806.237.3751.
